Women Who Wine Spring 2021: Recap

On Thursday, April 29th, Single Steps Strategies hosted our semi-annual Women Who Wine Event, held virtually via webinar for spring of 2021.

The Women Who Wine series asks women from all walks of life to take an hour and a half to themselves, savor each other’s company, and enjoy a glass of wine. Each event features a guest speaker or panel of speakers who share their insight on life and relationships, finance, education, health and wellness, or any number of other topics, with the ultimate goal of helping the Single Steps community grow and attain their individual goals.

Krystalore CrewsOur spring webinar, “Push the Reset Button: Change Your Mindset to Change Your Life”, featured guest speaker Krystalore Crews, a military veteran and spouse, former NFL cheerleader, and life and mindset coach.

After introducing herself and her line of work, Krystalore kicked off the event by engaging with our attendees with an activity meant to highlight the many relationships we have in life. By going through these relationships and examining who we are other people, she noted that many of us tend to over-extend ourselves and put our own personal development on the back burner. Krystalore encouraged our attendees to recommit to fulfilling their own needs before focusing on the needs of others. After all, she cautioned, You can’t pour from an empty cup”

We cannot thank Krystalore enough for taking the time to engage with our community and provide her invaluable insight into how to make mindset shifts that lead to personal growth. Creative Things to Do During Pandemic and Pandemonium

By Mary Grace Musuneggi

As the year 2020 continues to be an anomaly, we all look for ways to get back to normal, whatever that was or will be.  But Summer has always been a time for enjoying family, outings, vacations, outdoor activities and creative activities.  And although you may not be able to take that long-awaited once-in-a-lifetime vacation to Europe or  attend that annual family reunion in Hilton Head, we have been hearing from  friends how they have found wonderful ways of doing great staycations and fun family outings.

We would love to have you share your favorite creative endeavor with us by email or on our Facebook page, and in the meantime we will share some ideas with you:

1.    A Virtual Cooking Night.  Gather your friends and family on Zoom.  Share the preparation for your favorite recipe.  Being more creative, you could choose a culture or a cuisine.

2.    Pitch a tent in the back yard (or the living room).  Make s’mores.  Tell spooky stories.

3.    Hold a book club webinar.  Or have the kids read a book and do a book report.  Mail the report to a friend or family member.

4.    Throw an indoor picnic.

5.    Have a Christmas party (in the summer).

6.    Have an indoor scavenger hunt.

7.    Play board games.

8.    Have a costume Night.

9.    Do a jigsaw puzzle.  For a real challenge try the Heinz Ketchup puzzle.

10.  Play with Legos.

11.  Host an English Tea Party with the kids.

12.  Play Charades.

Most importantly, keep busy.  It will keep you happy and hopeful.  Or as Vivian Greene explained,

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.”
